Mapping Environmental Injustice

The purpose of this project is to determine if the locations of toxic release sites that discharge more than 500 pounds of toxic substances in the state of Virginia are spatially related to the poverty and also to the distribution of the African American population. Through examination of the spatial relationships presented by the census data and the data collected through the EPA, the issue of environmental and socioeconomic injustice can be inferred.
